WHAT IS TWIN-ROW?
Twin-Row*, sometimes referred to as "Narrow
or Close Row" is the most modern concept in planting today.
When planting in Twin-Rows*, The amount of seed normally planted
in a single or conventional row is planted in two rows 5 to 9
inches apart. Each planted seed gets the maximum space for growing.
BURCH began researching Twin-Row* planting in 1965
at the Georgia Costal Plains Experiment Station at Tifton, Georgia.
On the basis of the experiments, BURCH developed and manufactured
the first Twin-Row* Planter and has since tested it in many fields
using various populations of seed, soil, herbicide, etc.
WHY TWIN-ROW?
The most outstanding concept in planting is the
Twin-Row*. It is for todays modern farming methods. Farmers, seed
companies, and agricultural colleges have confirmed that the Twin-Row*
method provides increased yields. Twin-Row* allows the plants
to be exposed to more sun and more air circulation between plants.
This means:
- Increased nitrogen supply
- Lower moisture content at harvest
- Early maturation
- Better spacing for better root system
- Protection from the elements
